One Week Left..

So here I am, sitting in my chair at my makeshift desk looking at my blogger countdown, realizing I only have one week left to be single. That's it. After that, I'll be married FOREVER. Which isn't a bad thing, it's just a really important, life-changing thing.
I wonder if this whole thing has really sunk in. I don't think it has. I mean, I think about it all the time, but I don't think it will really hit me until after. Which makes me wonder if I know what I'm getting myself into. I guess I can't really know since I've never done this before.
Oh gosh. It's scary to think that seven-ish nights from now my whole life will be different. DIFFERENT.
Get it into your head girl! I keep repeating that in my head to no avail. I just can't wrap my head around this. I think a huge reason is that I have been away from my betrothed and place where everything happened for too long. It all feels like a dream. None of this is really happening. I made it all up. I'm not really getting married. I'm not really in a relationship at all.
Oh but this is real! You had better figure that out fast, you dope! I am going to wake up, eat, sleep, live, and do everything with this person for the rest of my life. I am going to have to keep up a house/apartment, work, clean, fix dinner (yikes!), and do anything else necessary in a marriage. Oh my goodness. This isn't really happening.
Focus! Remember why you're doing this! Oh yeah. I absolutely love this guy. He adores me and treats me as his queen. He is the perfect next chpater in my "fairy tale". He makes everything make sense. He fills the gaps and holes that were in my life. He is my destiny. I know this is what I need to do. I still feel that feeling of peace when I wonder if this is the right choice.
Yes, being single is wonderful. I have only one last week to enjoy it. But my life is growing, and the only way to reach my full potiential is to take this step. I'm not scared. Why? I have prepared myself my whole life to take this next step. I have done everything I could to get ready mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. And I have a few really wonderful people to hold my hands the whole way through. Thank you Mom, thank you Nate, but most of all, thank you God.

To the Tune of "O Holy Night" (The Wedding Song)

Oh, holy cow! The days are quickly flying!
There's only nine more days 'till I'm wed!
The day will be filled with happiness and crying,
They will talk 'till no words can be said.

The thrill of love, the parents are rejoicing,
Not for the pair, but 'cause the stress is o'er.
No more planning, oh hear the bride rejoicing!
Oh AUGUST nineteenth, oh August nineteenth!
Hallelujah, HALLELUJAH!
Oh August, August nineteenth!

Wedding Update (What Else?)

I figured since I haven't posted in a couple of weeks, it was about time.
The wedding plans are, well, a mess.
We now have a photographer, a couch and chair, and some of my other appointments are getting set up.
Of course with good there is almost always bad. We may not have our venue for our reception anymore. And the invitations are already sent out!!!
I becoming burnt out, but I guess I should have expected that.
Ahhhh, this will all be over in four weeks.
Then I must face trying to find a job and start a new life.
With the one I love and get to spend forever with.
Things could be worse. :)

Time is Flying BY

So as the counter shows, there is less than ONE MONTH left until my wedding.
I had my first stress breakdown yesterday. It wasn't pretty, but at least I didn't become a monster. I mostly just cried and ran away. I guess that's not much better.
Anyway, things are starting to come together. My dress is being altered, my invitations are in the making, and I am going home soon.
I am going home soon!
I have some really mixed feelings about that. On one hand, it means I will get to see and spend time with my friends and my mother, visit my favorite quiant little shops, enjoy some rain, and have some down time (maybe). However, on the other hand, it means I won't see my fiancee for over three weeks starting this Saturday. When we do see each other again, the wedding will be LESS THAN FOUR DAYS AWAY.
This is where I take a deep breath and try to remain calm.
I hope all the things I still need to do will fall into place, and that I won't miss him too much.
Wish me luck!

Wedding Plans (UPDATED)

So many people have been asking me about my plans for my wedding, so I am just going to start this post now and update it later. (UPDATED 06/29/2011)

colors:

bouquet flowers:
I'm thinking if getting some nice artificial flowers, handmaking my bouquet, and that way I can keep it forever!

the RING:
he chose this ring (on his own!) because it looks sort of like a sun, for my nickname Sunshine

the dress!:
THIS IS THE ACTUAL DRESS!!!

These were the dresses I was considering:

This one of the possiblities that I have tried on...

I can't stand the classic square or scoopneck, and this dress has the simple attachment that covers it up and makes it elgant and unique!

Ideas for the cake:

My idea for a theme or trend is a very classic, simple yet elegant, vintage almost timeless look.

Succesful Day

So today Nate and I picked up the real ring (I have been wearing a fake one as a placeholder until the real one came) Saturday morning.

I also spent pretty much the entire day trying on wedding dresses, but I found the one of my dreams!! It's entirely French lace (no beadwork). It has a very simple yet elegant vintage feel, which was EXACTLY what I was going for!! I am SOOO grateful to my friend Melissa for driving me and being patient and honest and a wonderful bridesmaid!! I love her!!

Marriage Materials

I am just throwing this out into the void- but what is the point of all the "things" we MUST have for a wedding?! I know they have some symbolism and importance, but I still feel that way to much money is spent on the truly unimportant.
For instance, a wedding/engagement ring sybolizes devotion, fidelity, and eternity. A diamond is chosen as the stone because it is the toughest, rarest, and clearest. These are all symbols of marriage. Is it really necessary to spend thousands of dollars on? Must me have a diamond? Why not coated cubic zirconia? Most people wont know the difference, it looks the same to the naked eye. It lasts a long time, too. It allows all that money that was saved to be put to use elsewhere, instead of sitting aimlessly on a finger.
What about the dress? Of course every woman wants to look beautiful on  her one special day. Why must we pay so much for an article of clothing that we will only wear for a few hours, then hang in the back of our closet never to be worn again? Why are there tuxedo rentals, but not prominent wedding dress rentals? Food for thought.
We can spend thousands of dollars on the reception, too. Why not a more simple, possibly more casual party similar to an open house?
I suppose I am a loon and everyone reading this will think me crazy for not wanting the once-in-a-lifetime experience. But that's just the thing. I want to focus on the experience, not the headache ensued by spending mass amounts of money on a few hours of one day filled with material, not matrimony.

First Post...of course...

So here it is. I have simultaneously made a blog. I'm going on the word of a friend that blogs are amazing. I hope they are right. I honestly don't know what I am getting myself into, but hey, I guess everything that is new starts out foreign.
I guess I should say a little bit about myself. Well, I have been dating someone for just over two months. We are getting married on August 19th of this year, and yes, that's only roughly 84 days away. No, I don't have the ring yet, but it is on it's way. I already know that I will be proposed to this Saturday night. So much for the grand surprise I wanted, but that's life and of course I know I probably would have figured it out anyway.
My whole life has changed in less than 100 days. Everything I thought I knew is now up in the air. It makes me apprehensive, but mostly excited. I love the surprise waiting around the corner. (If you haven't guessed by now, I love surprises.)
I am currently a student, but I will most likely have to put that on hiatus once I am married to work and pay bills. I personally am happier with that, as schooling doesn't end when classes are over. There is still homework and studying. Work, for the most part, doesn't come home with you. Plus, I gain money instead of losing it. That is always a plus. I am aware that I have to spend money to make money, and a higher education generally leads to a higher salary, but for now, I will settle. I am trusting my future husband, who is also currently a student, to gain that higher education so that he has the high salary. Also, he would rather have me stay at home as it is.
Well, it is late at night/early in the morning, and as with most students and others, I am procrastinating. There are definitely things I would like to get done, but they will requires waking others up. For now, I will let sleeping dogs lie. I will try to keep you all updated on more wedding news.
